Put an end to easy lock pick raids

With a notable 70% of server bases already raided, we've observed a concerning pattern: 80% of these breaches were executed effortlessly, merely requiring lock picks for thieves to clear out entire bases. Many newcomers to Scum, transitioning from games like Rust, often underestimate the ease with which skilled lock pickers can compromise their bases using just a few tools.

On Exile server, we cater more to experienced Scum players, but we warmly welcome newcomers too. We're committed to helping everyone discover the joys of Scum just as we did. To assist in this, we plan to offer guidance to new players, teaching them effective strategies to safeguard their bases and avoid repetitive mistakes. Let's start with a straightforward base design technique that compels would-be raiders to use explosives instead of lock picks. Why push for explosives? Simply put, gathering explosives demands much more effort than picking locks.

In the images below, you’ll find a simple strategy to put your doors out of reach of unwanted lockpickers. The first image illustrates how to access your base as needed, and the second shows how it should appear when you're offline or don’t need access. By destroying the roof panels when necessary, you prevent raiders from reaching the door.

Consider enclosing the ramp in a tower for additional protection against snipers as you ascend, which we highly recommend. This setup also allows for multiple layers of walls around your modular base—the more, the merrier, especially with high-tier walls that significantly challenge raiders to procure the necessary explosives. Avoid using wooden walls; they offer scant protection.

If you have questions about base building or need further tips, feel free to engage with other players on Discord or submit a ticket. We’ll do our best to respond and help enhance your Scum experience. Also stop looking on Youtube for base design ideas. They are often made by PvE players who just want them to look pretty instead of being functional and robust.
